Our Cabinet Painting Process
A typical kitchen takes about 5 business days from start to finish, but we're only working in your home for 2–3 of them. Here's what happens each day.
Free quote & color selection
Text us 3–4 photos or schedule an in-home visit. You'll get an itemized written quote that lists doors, drawers, frames, and any add-ons. Once you approve it, we help you choose a color (we can bring large samples) and book your start date.
Removal, labeling & protection
We number every door and drawer front so each one goes back in the same spot, then remove hinges and hardware and bag them. Doors go to our spray shop. In your kitchen, we cover countertops, floors, appliances, and walls with plastic and paper.
Degrease, sand & repair the frames
We clean every surface with a cabinet degreaser, scuff sand, fill dents and old hardware holes if you're changing hardware, and caulk open seams. This prep is what makes the finish last.
Prime & spray the frames
We apply a bonding primer, sand between coats, then spray two coats of cabinet enamel on the frames and boxes. The masking comes off at the end of the day, and you can use your kitchen again that evening.
Doors & drawers sprayed
Your doors are cleaned, sanded, primed, and sprayed on both sides in a controlled, dust-free spray booth. Each coat cures before the next, which gives the smooth, factory-like finish you can't get with a brush.
Reinstall, adjust & walkthrough
Doors and drawer fronts go back in their original places. We adjust the hinges so the gaps are even, install your existing or new hardware with a template, clean up, and walk through the kitchen with you to check every surface.
What's included
- Both sides of all doors and drawer fronts
- Face frames, exposed end panels, and toe kicks
- Inside of glass-front cabinets
- Removing and reinstalling existing hardware
- Minor dent, scratch, and seam repairs
Optional add-ons
- Cabinet interiors: adds about a day of prep
- Two-tone: such as an island or lowers in a second color
- New hardware: we fill old holes and drill new ones with a template
- Grain filling on oak for a smooth modern look
- Soft-close hinges
How to prepare
- Empty the cabinets you'd like painted inside (otherwise just clear the countertops)
- Plan simple meals for days 1–2, since the stove and sink are covered during work hours
- Keep pets out of the kitchen while we work
- Pick your hardware early if you're changing it
Caring for your new finish
The paint is dry to the touch in hours, but cabinet enamel takes about 2–3 weeks to fully harden. During that time, open and close doors gently, avoid sticky tape and harsh cleaners, and wipe up spills with a soft damp cloth. After it cures, a mild soap and water is all your cabinets need.
